Worms are hermaphrodite which means they have both male and female reproductive cells. However, it still takes two to tango… if you know what I mean!
It is important to maintain the level of waste in the lower trays of the wormery as the waste is reducing.
This is not needed.
The great thing about a tray system wormery is that a: It's off the floor so very unlikely to be attacked by rodents and B: Worms compost waste as you add it so they really help to neutralise the odours. We have had no problems with rodents with Urbalive or other tray system worm composters.
Normal earthworms, also known as "garden worms" or "lob worms," are not typically suitable for composting.
